So, I went to Gurnee Mills and went into Rink Side. It is really fun- especially when you hang out with friends there! There's a mini golf course, (which I didn't go in) ice skating rink (also didn't try) arcade gaming, and laser tag. Let's see, well, I didn't try the mini golfing, but i thought it looked really colorful from the outside! Ice skating was a bit of a risk for me since I've never ice skated before, so I was afraid of breaking my neck. The laser tag game was extremely fun! It's for large groups though, because of the teams. What you do is you wear on these vests, either for team blue or red, and attached to your vest is a gun. After that, you get 10 seconds to hide somewhere before you can start shooting other people. Now, how it works is that the gun, you have to hold with both hands, and so if you hold it with one hand, your monitor would say hold the gun with 2 hands, wasting your time. Then you'd go shooting people where there's the triangle either on the front, back, or shoulders. It sounds lame, but when you play it, it's really fun! If you get shot, your vest would vibrate, and you'd be lit yellow. This means that you can't shoot people and others can't shoot you. This game just gets a bit of my adrenaline pumping!
Afterwards, when the game is over, your monitor would tell you how many
hits you made. There's also an arcade place where you can play games
like shooting others, or air hockey or racing, etc... Those games have
this thing where once you slide your card, you can play up to 2 hours so
its like it doesn't cost anything. You can play those kind of games for
up to a certain amount of time you paid for. Then there's the game that
cost you credits. Those are the ones that give you tickets if you win.
You have to buy credits and you can get more if you give them more
money; any amount is fine, you can even get $1 worth of credits or you
can say I want 9 credits or something. They also have games that require
tokens so you can get 4 credits for 4 tokens or something like that.
The other kind of games they have is the ones with the claw hands. Those
just require credits. All of the games here are really addicting, and
you just want to play more. With the tickets you win, you can go to the
prize desk to receive a prize. There's those cheap stuff that are around
6 tickets, and small pieces of candies that are 10-40 tickets. The big
bars would be around 150 tickets and other games can be up to 25,000
tickets. They also have blow up toys, lamps, and stuffed animals.
Another machine they have is the cotton candy machine, where you can pay
$2, pay in credits, or tokens. It tasted pretty good, but I mean, its
cotton candy so...they pretty much all taste the same. Now, the machines
here aren't top notch. They mess up a lot and constantly need
assistance. I mean, its not super bad, but they could spend a little
money to repair these or even buy another one! The pizza there tastes
horrible. Its not like I can't even eat this horrible, but its just so
greasy, and the bread is flat, and all these other things. It's edible,
but don't expect Domino's or Pizza Hut, or Lou Malnati's Pizza. Overall, this place is really cool, but it does need some work. I think I will go there for like a party or something like that. Now that I realize it, it's sort of like Chuck E. Cheese, but it's okay if teens or adults go there. Below are some of the prizes I won from Rink Side!
